Revelations

My Revelations

Hi all, I had my bible study session yesterday night with a brother-in-christ, Alvin. And he spoke to me regarding the issue of Manhood. It is an issue that we, as man should look into and learn to tackle it. It is a call, which prompts us that now is the time to start having a vision of taking up roles of leadership, be it in church ministries or in the secular world. Alvin pointed out a word in the bible, which I will talk about it later. But right now, please look at your bibles with me to Genesis 3:1. "Now the serpent was more cunning than any other beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman,"Has God indeed said,'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?'" Now, that is the beginning of the temptation from Satan in human history. And as we read on, we know that woman was tempted and ate the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil, and she gave the fruit to the man. And the name of the man was Adam. If you have your bible with you, you can read on and discover what Adam did. He too ate the fruit that his woman, Eve gave him.

Now look at Genesis 3:8-13. "And they heard the sound of the Lord walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him,"Where are you?" So he said,"I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself." And He said,"Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you shall not eat?" Then the man said,"The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave of the tree, and I ate." And the Lord God said to the woman,"What is this you have done?" The woman said,"The serpent deceived me, and I ate." Notice that Adam, who is a man, did not take charge of the situation at that point in time. He could have rejected the fruit and tell the woman off and killed the serpent, but instead, he was being tempted. And the next thing is that, Adam did not boldly admit to God that he had sinned, but puts the blame onto Eve. Conclusion: Adam is not taking control, is not responsible, and is not being accountable for his mistake. That is the beginning of the fall of man. Meaning, if we are not responsible or accountable, if we are not taking charge of our lives and people arround us, we, as man by birth, fail to be the REAL man God created us to be.

Now, what is God's intention of what a REAL man should be?

The next Word of God that Alvin had shared with me is found in Genesis 1:27-28. "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God saidto them,"Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.""

It is said that firstly, be fruitful and multiply. We need to be fruitful in whatever we're given. Our talents, skills and abilities are God-given. So, we need to use them and in turn, to be productive. And by being productive, we will be given even more talents, skills and abilities to work with. In Matthew 25:14-30 says it all. It also said that to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. God wants us, not only as man, but as humans, to be productive and learn to multiply our talents and share our potentials.

Secondly, fill the earth and subdue it. 3 dictionary definitions of subdue:
- To stop violence by using force. (Spiritual meaning: To have a strong heart. That nothing deceptive could influence the thoughts of your mind, simply by having a force within that prevents deception from the devil to affect our thinking.)
- To prevent emotions from showing. (Spiritual meaning: Not showing your emotions at the wrong time and at the wrong place. To be less emotional and more spiritual.)
- To take control. (Spiritual meaning: To take up a position; to be responsible.)

Thirdly, is to have dominion over every living thing that moves on the earth. This is the reason why only man have the Holy Spirit, instead of animals. =p

Now, here's the juice. Alvin shared with me the S.A.F. 7 core values which I have been reciting them over and over again during my BMT days. The S.A.F. 7 core values are: Loyalty to your country, Leadership, Discipline, Professionalism, Fighting Spirit, Ethics, Care for Soldiers.

I will discuss about these core values in my next post, regarding on how to apply them in our spiritual walk in living a life of the REAL man.
