Psalm 1

Psalm 1:1-2
"Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he medidates day and night."

To meditate is to fill one's mind with the riches of God's word; to constantly be engaged in the word; to reflect upon what is biblically written.

To be blessed is to have God's favour, supernatural protection and promises of victory in all things in one's life.

There're four things listed in this first psalm whereby a man can be blessed greatly.
1. Avoid worldly advice.
2. Avoid sinful behaviour.
3. Avoid being scornful.
4. Seek the Kingdom of God.

God has stated very clearly in Deuteronomy 28:1-14 about the good things that will happen to one who is blessed. Obedience is the key to be blessed.

How to be blessed? By diligently obeying the Lord.

What Happens To You When You Are Blessed?

- Deut 28:2 = Blessings will overtake. It will go wherever you go. Even before you start your journey, your destination is already confirmed to be victorious.

- Deut 28:3 = You'll be exalted.

- Deut 28:4 = You'll experience good health, wonderful sex life within marriage, increase of finances, promotions, good business and smoother-sailing entrepreneurship.

- Deut 28:5 = There will be great abundance and nothing good will go out to the wicked. You'll be easily moulded (teachable).

- Blessed shall be all your ministries.

- The enermies of yours will never win you. They will be defeated.

- You'll be rich and prosper in all areas of your life.

- God will raise you up.

- All things you do will be productive and filled with success.

- You will never be in lack.

- You will be the 'head' and not the 'tail'. You will be the top and not the bottom.

Psalm 1:3
"He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper."

--------------------------------------------------

One word, which is equivalent to this verse is "fruitful".
Being fruitful is about maximising one's potential in life. And those who meditates on God's word shall be fruitful in due season. He will prosper in all areas of his life, which is bursting with possibilities and God's promises.

Rivers of Water - Annointing and Holy Spirit. He will be filled richly with these.

--------------------------------------------------

Since obedience is the key to blessing, we are told that we are also responsible for our actions. And how we perform will affect our prosperity.

--------------------------------------------------
Psalm 1:4-6 - Describes what the ungodly are like and how they are dealt with by God.
