Psalm 2

Psalm 2:1-8
"Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
'Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.'
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
'Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.'
'I will declare the decree:
The Lord has said to Me,
'You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession."

Psalm 2:1 asked a good question about why nations go to war and waste their time on unnecessary and futile plans.

Psalm 2:2-3 answered the previous verse. Because the people chose to. By fighting against each other in warfare over resourses and power, because they simply couldn't free themselves from these gains. In a way, the rulers have always wanted to break away their bonds with the Lord and calling this bond 'slavery'. And have you heard of the worldly phrase, "Christianity is the slavery of one's mind."? Or have you heard of another, which Adolf Hitler so proudly used, "Christianity is the invention of sick minds."? That precisely explained this conspiracy these people have against the Messiah; against the Lord.

Throughout history, mankind has been blocking God out of the picture, in whatever things they do or say. Such behaviour can be found anywhere such as in education, government, media and business. Many are trying to backstab one another in more ways than one. And when one puts God in the picture, he or she will be judged or discriminated by those conspicuous pharisees. The censorship of the gospel is still going strong even till this day - the conspiracy against the Messiah.

Psalm 2:4-6 said that for this conspiracy from mankind, the Lord actually laughs and scoffs at them. And in anger, He rebukes them and terrifies them with His fury. The Lord then declares that the King is Jesus Christ, the one whose throne is in Jerusalem, on the holy mountain of Zion.

Psalm 2:8 - If we serve the Lord, we will inherit His Kingdom and all nations. We shall be the head and not the tail; above but not beneath; and we shall never be in want.

Psalm 2:9-12
"You shall break them with a rod of iron;
You shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.
Now therefore. be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Serve the Lord with fear,
And rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are those who put their trust in Him."

Psalm 2:11-12 - Fear the Lord, embrace discipline, be teachable and easily moulded. Be submissive to Jesus. To those who find protection in the Lord, they will be joyful. But those who are against the Lord, they will fail in whatever pursuits they endeavor. God's wrath can be instant.
