Psalm 5

Psalm 5:1-4

"Give ear to my words, O Lord,
Consider my meditation.
Give heed to the voice of my cry,
My King and my God,
For to You I will pray.
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord;
in the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up.
For You are not a God who takes plesure in wickedness,
Nor shall evil dwell with You."

Again, this Psalm was written by David. In the above verses, it tells about David's daily devotion to the Lord and in short, starting the day right. In fact, every morning, the first thing that comes to your mind is the very important subject of the day. Here's how to describe it...

If the first thing you thought when you wake up is work, then your work is your main focus and subject of the day. You'll work, work, and work your soul away.

If the first thing you thought when you wake up is what you can eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you are going to spend the whole day eating... as your main focus and subject.

If the first thing you thought when you wake up is, "Gosh! I'm gonna go out with this beautiful babe today!", then your date for the day is your main focus and subject. Then, good luck my brother, hope your date turn out well.

If the first thing you thought when you wake up is, "Sigh, Man... where's the toothbrush?", then I guess you are going to lead a boring day.

On the other hand, if you start your day thinking about God, having God the first thing in your mind when you wake up. And start doing your morning prayer, then you are actually committing your time with God. Next thing you'll know is that you'll find yourself full of energy and strength throughout the day, and there's nothing you can't do.

Without fresh manna of God's daily presense, you will not be adequately equipped or prepared for the challenges of the day. Remember, the Devil is a smart guy. So don't underestimate him. He uses business to keep us away from serving God and business is one effective way to using up our time with God, so that we have lesser quiet times, and lesser prayers made to God. So guard our hearts against the extreme of business. It's okay to be busy. But taking this to the extreme is something God wants us to be aware of.

Psalm 5:8

"Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies;
Make Your way straight before my face."

--------------------------------------------------

"Lead me". This is the first two words of this verse. Why "Lead me"? To lead is to take charge, is to oversee, and also, to guide. Only the Lord provides the perfect guidance to living your life to the fullest. Refer to Psalm 23:1. It says that the Lord is my shepherd... And if He is our shepherd, then what are we? Yes, we are His sheep. Sheep are animals that cannot wander off alone for it may get lost or even get killed by predators. Therefore, the shepherd is placed in charge of the flock. This verse tells about how we should continuously ask God for guidance everyday.

Read on. "...because of my enemies...". Because of what? The enemies. Who are the enemies? They are the powers of darkness. They represents our sins, self-will, and our bondages. Each one of them carries a certain amount of negative consequences that we all need to bear. Thus, always ask for guidance so that the Lord will make your path straight.
